What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is currently the most popular cosmetic surgery in the United States. The procedure is designed to remove unwanted fat from specific areas of the body, helping to achieve a more contoured appearance. The procedure involves the use of a suction technique to extract fat deposits through small incisions, targeting areas such as the abdomen, thighs, arms, and buttocks. While it is effective for body shaping, liposuction is not a weight-loss solution and is best suited for individuals who are close to their ideal weight but have stubborn fat pockets.

Liposuction = Liposculpting

Dr. Henry prefers the term Liposculpting when it comes to removing and redistributing fat. There is artistry in the field of cosmetic medicine, and liposculpting is the ultimate tool. This technique allows Dr. Henry to mold a patient's body to obtain an aesthetically pleasing result by combing fat removal with fat transfer. Liposculpting is not a weight-loss solution and is best suited for individuals who are close to their ideal weight and are looking for the extra push to perfection.

VASER Liposuction

VASER liposuction, or Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance, is a minimally invasive body contouring procedure that uses ultrasound technology to break down fat cells while preserving surrounding tissues. This technique involves the insertion of a small probe that emits ultrasonic waves, which liquefy the fat, making it easier to remove through suction. The procedure is known for its precision, resulting in smoother contours and less trauma to the body compared to traditional liposuction methods. Dr. Henry uses VASER liposuction in his 3 in 1 Liposculpting package for high quality, breath taking results.

Awake Vs. Asleep Liposuction

3-in-1 Liposuction

The 3 in 1 liposuction procedure performed by Dr. Henry combines three advanced techniques: VASER liposuction, high definition liposuction, and Renuvion skin tightening. VASER liposuction utilizes ultrasound technology to selectively break down fat cells while preserving surrounding tissues, allowing for precise fat removal and smoother contours. High definition liposuction further enhances the results by sculpting the body to create a more defined appearance, emphasizing muscle tone and contours. Finally, Renuvion skin tightening uses radiofrequency energy to heat the skin and stimulate collagen production, resulting in tighter, firmer skin post-procedure. This comprehensive approach aims to deliver optimal body contouring results while addressing skin laxity, making it a popular choice for those seeking significant aesthetic improvements.

Recovery and Expectations Following Surgery

  • Dr. Henry will be available every step of the way to ensure proper healing and to provide support.  Typically, patients can expect swelling, bruising, and discomfort during the first few weeks post-surgery.

  • Dr. Henry recommends taking at least 1 week off work, longer for more physically demanding jobs.  Light workouts can usually be resumed after 1 week, but more strenuous exercise should be avoided for about 3 weeks.

  • Patients are encouraged to wear a compression garment for 3 weeks full time followed by an additional 3 weeks part time for best results. Foam padding is alway encouraged for the first 3-5 days.

  • Patients should expect a lot of drainage from the incision sites for the first 4-7 days which can be reddish in color. This is completely normal!!

  • Dr. Henry will leave small rubber drains (1 inch) in 2-3 of the incisions to help promote drainage. They will be removed at 1 week.

  • Patients should set up lymphatic massages following the procedure. Dr. Henry recommends 4-6 sessions to improve healing, promote drainage, and reduce hardening or fibrosis.

  • Dr Henry likes frequent follow-up appointments to monitor healing and address any concerns.
