What is a Mommy Makeover?
A mommy makeover is a customized set of surgical procedures designed to restore a woman's pre-pregnancy body after childbirth. Typically, it includes a combination of procedures such as breast augmentation or lift, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), and liposuction. The goal of a mommy makeover is to address the physical changes that occur during pregnancy and breastfeeding, such as sagging breasts, excess skin, and stubborn fat deposits. Each mommy makeover is tailored to the individual’s needs and can vary widely based on personal goals and body types.

Every Mother is Different
Every mother has a unique journey through pregnancy and motherhood, which influences her body in different ways. Factors such as genetics, lifestyle, and the number of pregnancies can lead to varying degrees of physical changes, making each woman's experience distinct. For some, pregnancy may result in significant weight gain and loss, leading to excess skin and stubborn fat pockets, while others may experience minimal changes. Additionally, individual preferences and goals for body image play a critical role in determining what a mommy makeover entails. As a result, the mommy makeover process is highly personalized, allowing mothers to choose specific procedures that address their unique concerns and help them feel confident in their post-baby bodies.

Recovery and Expectations Following Surgery
-
Dr. Henry will be available every step of the way to ensure proper healing and to provide support. Typically, patients can expect swelling, bruising, and discomfort during the first few weeks post-surgery.
-
Dr. Henry recommends taking at least 2-3 weeks off work, longer for more physically demanding jobs. Light workouts can usually be resumed after 3 weeks, but more strenuous exercise should be avoided for about 6-8 weeks.
-
Patients are encouraged to wear a compression garment for 3 weeks full time followed by an additional 3 weeks part time for best results
-
Patients will have 1-2 bulb drains following surgery which are easily removed in office after approximately 1-2 weeks
-
Patient's can expect incisions to heal in 4-6 weeks, but the incisions may be red or dark for up 6-12 months, differing for each individual patient.
-
Dr Henry likes frequent follow-up appointments to monitor healing and address any concerns.
