What is a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure aimed at enhancing the appearance of the abdomen by removing excess fat and skin, while also tightening the underlying muscles. This operation is particularly beneficial for individuals who have experienced significant weight fluctuations, pregnancy, or aging, which can lead to loose or sagging skin. The procedure not only creates a flatter and firmer abdominal profile but can also improve overall body contours and boost self-esteem.

Different Types of Tummy Tuck
-
Mini Tummy Tuck: Focusing on the lower abdomen, removing excess skin and fat with a smaller incision and no muscle tightening. This procedure can be done while awake.

-
Standard Tummy Tuck: A procedure removing excess skin and fat from the entire abdominal area and involves tightening the underlying muscles and belly button reconstruction for a more toned appearance.

-
Extended Tummy Tuck: A more involved tuck addressing not only the abdomen but also the flanks/waist, providing a more comprehensive contouring effect.

-
Reverse Tummy Tuck: A procedure primarily targeting the upper abdomen, lifting the area above the belly button and is performed through incisions made under the breast line. This procedure can be done while awake.

The spectrum ranges from liposuction alone for excess fat with minimal loose skin, to a complete body lift with circumferential skin resection for severe skin laxity

-
Patient's can expect incisions to heal in 4-6 weeks, but the incisions may be red or dark for up 6-12 months, differing for each individual patient.
-
Dr Henry likes frequent follow-up appointments to monitor healing and address any concerns.
